LINCOLN, Abraham]. WALKER, Lewis Emory, photographer . Stereograph card, with composite mounted albumen prints, 80 x 172 mm. , from a double-lens photograph taken in February 1865 by Walker, WITH "E & H.T. ANTHONY" LABEL and tax stamps on verso of stereograph card, edges slightly worn . An unique image, in which the President's haircut resembles a modern brush cut; it had been cut to facilitate the taking of his life mask by sculptor Clark Mills Henry Ward Beecher, seeing this portrait, commented that Lincoln's hair "was every way for Sunday. It looked as though it was an abandoned stubble field." Hamilton/Ostendorf O-103.
