Lincoln, Abraham, as Sixteenth President Printed broadside document signed on a full sheet of wove paper (16 1/4 x 21 1/4 in.; 412 x 541 mm), accomplished in a clerical hand, [Washington], before 26 August 1861, being a four-language ship's paper for the George and Susan, a whale ship of 356 tons commanded by Nathaniel M. Junegan of New Bedford and bound for the Pacific Ocean, laden with "Provisions, Stores, and utensils for a whaling voyage," countersigned by the Secretary of State ("William H. Seward") and the New Bedford Collector ("Lawrence Grinnell"), embossed paper seal of the United States, embossed stamp of the New Bedford Custom House, embossed stamp and signature of New Bedford Justice of the Peace James Taylor docketed on verso; internal tear, without loss, at head of third column of text, a few short fold separations. Matted, framed, and glazed.
