LINDBERGH, Charles A. (1902-1974), American Aviator . Autograph documents, SIX PAGES OF NAVIGATIONAL NOTES BY LINDBERGH FOR HIS 1927 SOLO FLIGHT, [1927]. Together 4 pages, 4to, in pencil and ink, two documenst browned and chipped along left edge otherwise GOOD CONDITION. PLOTTING HIS COURSE FROM SAN DIEGO TO ST. LOUIS, THEN ST. LOUIS TO NEW YORK AND ON TO PARIS. In the first two sheets in this lot , Lindbergh charts out the distances for the first two, "warm-up" legs of his historic 1927 flight: taking the newly born Spirit of St. Louis from the Ryan Aeronautical factory in San Diego across country, stopping briefly in St. Louis, and then heading on to New York. He titles the first sheet "San Diego to St. Louis," and notes the Distance, Latitude, Longitude, True course, "Hrs D. Lo" (Hours Deviation Longitude) and "Degrees D. Lo." The second sheet, labeled St. Louis - New York," contains the same categories. On the back of the San Diego to St. Louis sheet he also wrote out the true course for each of the 13 states he flew over. A third sheet lists the Latitude and Longitude for the climactic leg of the Spirit's journey: "New York (Roosevelt Field) Latitude 40 0 45' N., Longitude 73 0 37' W., Paris Latitude 48 0 49' N., Longitude 2 0 2.0' E." WITH 3 ADDITIONAL SHEETS OF NAVIGATIONAL NOTES IN LINDBERGH'S HAND. Exciting artifacts from Lindbergh's planning of the history-making solo flight across the Atlantic. Together 6 items .
