Linton's route around Italy in 1828-29 included visits to Lugano, Milan, Turin, Genoa, Florence, Rome and its vicinity, Naples, Pompeii, Sorrento, Amalfi, Assisi, Perugia, Bologna, Ferrara, Venice and Padua.
