Beschreibung:

Loiminchay honors the venerable Menshen, or Door Gods, the guardians of doors and gateways in Chinese folk religions. These figures are used to protect against evil influences and to encourage the entrance of positive ones. The Door Gods are skillfully depicted here in hiramaki-e and raised takamaki-e with abundant gold powder and other pigments, based on T'ang Dynasty masterpieces. Also depicted are four highly symbolic animals modeled after drawings from the Qing Dynasty: the white elephant, lion, tiger and leopard. Together, these figures are emblematic of power, prosperity, humility and spiritual advancement. Both pens are signed by the artist. Piston-fillers. 166mm. Medium 18K two-tone gold nibs engraved with dragon head motifs. Outer box, inner box, blue leather and woven bamboo display box with recessed compartments for the pens, brocaded silk pen sleeves, bamboo mat, certificate, framed "Door Gods" legend and two framed prints. Limited Edition: No. 6 of 18 sets. Excellent condition, not inked.
