LONDON 1689 -- SCHOONEBECK, Adriaan (1658-1705). Engelants Schouwtoneel . Amsterdam, n.d. [ca 1691]. 3 parts in one, oblong 8 o (178 x 248 mm). Engraved throughout on 60 engraved plates (including titles) by ADRIAAN SCHOONEBECK; engraved captions in Dutch and French. Contemporary calf. A pictorial English history from the reign of King James II through the coronation of WILLIAM III (1650-1702) and MARY II (1662-1694), and concluding with William's reception at the Hague in 1691. Adriaan Schoonebeck (ca 1658-1705) was a pupil of Romeyn de Hooghe and these series of engravings were presumably produced around the time of his visit to the Hague in February 1691 (see lots 168 and 169). Each part consists of twenty engravings, the second and third parts are devoted to the joint reign of William III and Mary II.
