LONDON, William -- A Catalogue of the most vendible Books in England, orderly and alphabetically digested; under the Heads of Divinity, History, Physick, and Chyrurgy, Law, Arithmetick... London, 1658. 4 o (183 x 135 mm). Three ornamented intitials at the beginning of the preliminaries. (Lacking A1 blank?, repairs to title page and T2-T4, some browning and light staining throughout.) Modern brown calf (light scuffing to covers, light rubbing to joints). Provenance : Thomas Chapman (inscription on title-page "John Chapman to Thomas Chapman"); manuscript notations on verso of title-page. Second edition. William London, a bookseller in Newcastle-on-Tyne, is perhaps best known for this English compilation that is arranged under various subject headings and is a description of the books available in his shop. First published in 1657, this edition includes a supplement of new books issued between August 1657 and June 1658.
