LORY, Gabriel, père et fils. Voyage pittoresque aux glaciers de Chamouni. Paris: P. Didot l'ainé, 1815. 2° (445 x 290mm). Half-title, title, list of plates, 7 aquatint plates printed in colours and finished by hand by F. Hegui after G. Lory père (2) or fils (4). (Light spotting to title, occasional small marginal repairs to text leaves, d2 with larger repaired tears but to the blank margins only, the fourth plate with small secttion of previous page adhering to image surface.) 20th-century red half morocco gilt, top edge gilt. Provenance : Edith Staniland (partially erased inscription, dated 1897). LARGE PAPER ISSUE, apparently the only edition of this work. Two of the plates are after G. Lory, père, while the rest are by his son. Some of the images were reissued later in a reduced form in Ostervald's Voyage pittoresque dans la vallée de Chamouni et autour du Mont-Blanc , with text by Raoul-Rochette, Paris 1826.
