Lot of 3 glazed cotton, printed parade flags, one with 36 stars in a 6x6 pattern, measuring 11.25 x 14 in., affixed to a 21 in. dowel, two with 38 stars configured in 7/6/6/6/6/7 horizontal rows, measuring 6.25 x 9.75 in. and 6.75 in. x 10 in., affixed to 18 in. dowels. The 36-star flag existed from 1864(Nevada) to 1867(Nebraska). Colorado was admitted as the 38th state in 1876, and no other states were admitted until the Dakotas in 1889. These flags were found inside the walls of a building in Iowa, which was built in 1884, during demolition for remodeling. Condition: Scattered stains and color loss. Each with a slight horizontal crease/pinch under the top stripe. First with green paper remnants at center right.
