Lot consists of (A) Circa early 20th century British patriotic trapunto banner of the Royal coat of arms of the United Kingdom used outside of Scotland. Draped behind the coat of arms are red and white British Ensigns as well as Japanese Ensigns. The trapunto banner is constructed of beautiful silk floss and metallic thread that is embroidered on a slate black silk field. It was most likely constructed as a souvenir for a British sailor during a Pacific cruise. CONDITION: The colors remain strong and vibrant. The thick designs remain intact with no signs of loose threads. The frame remains sturdy and exhibits handling marks. Overall excellent. (B) Circa early 20th century British Royal Navy patriotic trapunto banner. The banner is constructed of beautiful silk floss and metallic thread that is embroidered on a light blue silk field. The designs are simple yet patriotic, featuring a variety of British Ensigns which flank the motto "DIEU ET MIN DROIT" overtop of a crown. Toward the bottom are several photos, including a photo of the unidentified sailor and a photo of a male and female who are most likely relatives. The sailor's hat tally reads "ROYAL NAVAL RESERVE". At the lower center is a small, but nice painting of Royal Navy ships at Battle with what appear to be Imperial German cruisers. Though small, the painting captures the drama of battle and warring seas. CONDITION: The colors remain strong and vibrant. The thick designs remain intact with no signs of loose threads. Slight stains on the light blue field. Frame needs repair as half is separating from the glass. Overall good. (C) Circa early 20th century British Royal Navy patriotic trapunto banner. The banner is constructed of beautiful silk floss and metallic thread that is embroidered on a dark blue silk field. The designs are simple yet patriotic, featuring a variety of of ensigns that flank a photo of the sailor adorned in traditional Japanese garbs. The words "IM.REMEMBRANCE.OF.MY.CRUISE.IN.CHINA.&.JAPAN." are embroidered across the top. CONDITION: The colors remain strong and vibrant. The thick designs remain intact with no signs of loose threads. Professionally framed and ready to hang. Overall excellent.
