Louis XV Style Gilt-Metal Mounted Marquetry Inlaid Kingwood and Mahogany Commode The serpentine-shape breche d'Alep marble top above a conforming case enclosing two drawers, the front and sides decorated with floral sprays and scrolling acanthus leaves, raised on cabriole legs with foliate decorated knees, chutes and sabots. Height 35 1/2 inches, width 62 inches, depth 26 1/2 inches.
Commode: marble top appears to be in generally good condition; some chips to underside of rim edges; no apparent infilling or breaks; light scratching / scuffing to top; rough rim edge with chips along the back rim edge Case: top drawer opens with ease; lower drawer is somewhat tight; small area of veneer loss on the rear side of the front flared leg on the proper right side of the commode; splitting to veneer is visible on the proper right side of the commode extending in a vertical direction from top to bottom; some additional splitting to the veneer on the proper left side; some nails that secure the mounts are missing; oak secondary wood; appears to retain all of its mounts; no locking key
