Profusely illustrated history of the lunar landing, co-authored by one of the most central figures in space flight's early development. SIGNED and INSCRIBED with their individual flight number(s) by Buzz ALDRIN, Alan BEAN, Scott CARPENTER, Gordon COOPER, Walt CUNNINGHAM, Charles M. DUKE, Jr, Richard GORDON Fred HAISE, Edgar MITCHELL, Wally SCHIRRA, and Tom STAFFORD. The centuries of Man’s fascination with the Moon is described and illustrated with early stone sculptures, statues, drawings, and paintings. A majority of the work devotes its focus on Apollo 11 and includes a large fold-out mission diagram of the flight from the Earth to the Moon and lunar surface photographs from the most important space flight of all time. Dr. Wernher von Braun, one of the most important rocket developers, authors a chapter titled: “A Step Toward Immortality” describing the significance of this historic mission. The work ends with newly released photographs from Apollo 12, the second lunar landing in November 1969. 15 by 12 inches. 267 pp. Original blue cloth with dust jacket.
