LUNAR SURFACE – Lunar Chart LPC-1 . Aeronautical Chart and Information Center, USAF for NASA, March 1970. Large lunar chart illustrating the entire surface, including two stereographic projections of the North and South poles, signed by eleven lunar voyagers. SIGNED and INSCRIBED next to their mission landing site with their individual Apollo flight number by Buzz ALDRIN, Alan BEAN, Edgar MITCHELL, Dave SCOTT, Charles M. DUKE, JR, and Gene CERNAN. To symbolize their lunar orbit or flyby mission role, five additional astronauts have SIGNED and INSCRIBED along the lower margin: "James Lovell, Apollo 8 CMP," "Tom Stafford, Apollo X, Cdr," "Al Worden, Apollo 15 CMP," "Fred Haise, Apollo 13 LMP," and "Richard Gordon, Apollo XII CMP." The full lunar equatorial area is shown in Mercator projection between 45 degrees North and South latitude. The large maria are labeled with both their Latin and English names plus over 100 near side craters are named. Information such as diameter, surface gravity, orbital velocity, temperature, and mean distance from the Earth are contained in a central “Lunar Data” block. An extraordinary representation of Man's first exploration of the Moon during the 20th Century. Lithographed moon chart, 25.75 by 38 inches. Scale 1:10,000,000. First edition.
