Circa 1984. A matched pair of Model 557 game guns with blued steel 27" chopper lump barrels. Barrels have 2-3/4" chambers, narrow Churchill styled game type ribs with steel round front bead sights and auto ejectors. The tops of the right barrels read "FCA. DE ESCOPETAS ARRIETA - ELGOIBAR (ESPANA). Chokes in A/1 are Modified and Improved Cylinder and in B/2 Modified and Improved Cylinder. Both guns with cast-off European walnut stocks with fine line checkered diamond semi-pistol grips and black "KICK-EEZ" pads. Forearms are splintered and numbered "1" and "2" in gold just beneath the Anson styled push-button releases. Holland & Holland styled sidelock actions on the pair with gas escape ports, disc set strikers, non-auto safe, "S" in gold, blued single mechanical triggers, and blued cast-off rolled edge trigger guards. The faintly case colored actions are engraved with scroll and have a medium gray patina. Lockplates are engraved "ARRIETA Y CO". Bottom actions have same scrollwork in triangles and have two pheasants standing in a field. The guns come in a double French fitted leather case. CONDITION: Good. Barrels retain approximately 70% blue remaining. Both barrels have freckling, handling, and usage marks. Stocks both have numerous handling and usage marks. They both also show signs of usage and age around lockplates. Forend on the number one gun is good with some slight signs of usage to wood and hardware. Forend number two has a bit of visible wear from usage and around its hardware. Actions and other metal hardware have lost case colors and are now at approximately 30%. Trigger guards with some signs of usage and wear. Case very good with some storage marks.
