Vienna: Johann Jacob Kürner, [1712]. 2 o (429 x 287 mm) Engraved frontispiece by Benjamin Kenckel after Antoni Beduzzi and 11 engraved plates (one folding, 6 double-page) by Christian Engelbrecht and Johann Andreas Pfeffel after Johann Cyriak Hackenhofer (two plates slightly trimmed). Contemporary richly gold-tooled Viennese calf over pasteboards, edges silver (spine skillfully rebacked, the gilding slightly faded). Provenance : Starhemberg Library (ink stamp); John Roland Abbey (bookplate); A.R.A. Hobson (sold Sotheby's 1975); acquired from Peter Tumarkin Fine Books, 1981. A BEAUTIFULLY ILLUSTRATED VIENNESE FETE BOOK, recording the oath of allegiance to Emperor Charles VI (1685-1740) by the Estates General on 8 November 1712. The plates by J. A. Pfeffel (1674-1748) and J.C. Engelbrecht (1672-1735) depict a procession from the palace to the Cathedral of St. Stephen (1150 mm) and various banquets. The same plates (not the frontispiece) were use earlier to illustrate Gülich, Erb-Huldigung, so... Josepho... with some minor changes. Berlin Kat. 2877; Lipperheide Sc12; Vinet 677.
