6 bottles per lot
Malmsey--Vintage 1830 Quinta de Serrado, Cama de Lobos Demi-johned in 1935, bottled 1988, Christie's typed label Parcel: lots 31-32 Another Henriques family wine, aged for 105 years inoak, then preserved in demijohns, bottled in 1988, shortly before shipment to London. With the Bual 1827, the quantities were immense, roughly 100 dozen bottles of each wine, spaced through several sales. The 1830 vintage was the best. I have a total of eight notes: a deep, rich, glowing oloroso-coloured amber; chocolatey, sweet nose with fabulous, penetrating yet ethereal crystallised violets flavour and aftertaste. Last tasted, a bottle from Hugh Johnson's cellar, at the Hallwag press conference, Frankfurt, Sept 1994 ***** Quite a few bottles still around. Look out for it at auction. 6 bottles per lot
