The first edition of this work by Marbodus, bishop of Rennes (c.1035-1123), describing 60 stones and precious stones and their miraculous powers in 743 hexameters, was published in 1511; the second in his 'Opera' (Rennes, 1524); then in the present edition which was reprinted in the same year in Paris. It is the first edition edited by Pictorius.
