Marc Chagall Nicolas Gogol, Les Ames mortes, Tériade, Paris, 1948 (C. books 17) the complete set of 96 etchings with aquatint, 1923-27, on Arches, title, text, justification, eleven etched vignettes for the chapter headings, eleven index plates carrying outline etchings of the prints and the complete set of 96, the justification signed in pen and black ink, copy number 319, from the edition of 250 (the total book edition was 368), the full sheets as published, each plate with margins, some plates with some off-setting, otherwise each plate generally in good condition, twelve plates framed, the others loose (as issued) within paper wrappers with title printed in black on front, within cream paper-covered boards and slipcase, with title on spine, the paper wrappers with some foxing, the slipcase with wear and tear (book) overall S. 400 x 300 mm.
