This photograph on canvas represents the wall of the famous restaurant that Daniel Spoerri opened in Düsseldorf in 1968, where he cooked for his artist friends and clients, whose walls were covered with the letters he received from his artist friends, gallery owners, dealers, collectors and museum curators. These memorabilia are used here as reuse material and at the same time as Ready Made.By pasting an original letter from Marcel Duchamp addressed to him onto a photographic reproduction, Spoerri transforms the "Ready Made" of the letter into one of his famous "Tableau-Piège" and signs the direct filiation that unites him with the father of Dadaism. In addition, Daniel Spoerri who founded the Editions MAT (Multiplication d'Art Transformable) in 1959, has produced numerous editions of artists (Christo, Arman, Rotella, etc.) over the years, but has also produced a number of works from the MAT editions for certain artists, including Dieter Roth Jean Tinguely and Man Ray. One of his works is itself a trap painting, made up of the remains of a meal by Marcel Duchamp The content of the letter dated 1 December 1959 from Duchamp to Spoerri, included here as a ready made in a trap painting, concerns the labels and/or certificates for the MAT edition of 100 copies of the "Rotoreliefs" mounted on the electrical device that rotates the "Rotorelief" discs.____________________________________________________________ Le Mec-Art – Mechanical Art – est un procédé photographique typique de la fin des années 60.
