MARILYN MONROE A large wooden trunk and its original contents, packed by Marilyn Monroe when she moved the last of her things out of her Roxbury, Conneticut home with husband Arthur Miller. The trunk contains four hardcover books including a 1923 edition of Willa Cather's "Lost Lady" and a 1901 edition of "Abraham Lincoln" by Joseph H. Choate; a 1940 softcover edition of "Rilke Selected Poems"; a 1916 deck of celebrity playing cards; a pair of frameless "nose pinch" sunglasses in a metal glass; a fancy vintage evening bag, (which Ms. Monroe first used in early rehearsals of "Anna Christie" with Maureen Stapleton, she said it gave her a wonderful feeling of characterization), decorated with colorless bugle beads; Marilyn Monroe's very first camera, a BROWNIE box style Target Six-20; a pasted "Album Of Film Stars" Player cigarette card collection; a manila envelope addressed to Marilyn Monroe containing newspaper and "Hollywood Reporter" clippings related to her; and, a collection of fifteen magazines, 1947-1961, all but three featuring Ms. Monroe on the cover. Includes many typical 1950s Hollywood gossip magazine articles, "Has MM Set A Tender Trap For Frank Sinatra?", "Marilyn Monroe's Life As A Divorcee", "Why Marilyn Monroe Can't Hold Onto Love" and the 1949 first issue of "FOTO Parade" magazine which introduced new starlet Marilyn Monroe (24)
