Marlene Dietrich A typescript letter, signed, from Marlene Dietrich to a friend at Paramount Studios, Peter Bankers, 7th August, 1981, Dietrich reveals her disgust at the making of Mommie Dearest she comments ...I am shocked that Paramount bought that filthy book... i did not know Joan Crawford but nobody deserves that kind of slaughter. she conveys her exasperation at her book still remaining unpublished into the fifth year of negotiations they [Putnam the publishers] refuse to give me my liberty... because they claim it to be "NOT ACCEPTABLE", the letter concludes with Dietrich commenting on living in Paris and some of the annoyances she encounters Paris is empty like a bull-ring when it rains, and the tourists ... are a habitual disease in this beautiful city... Dietrich signs off in black ink Marlene ; accompanied by a hand-written envelope and a colour snap-shot of Dietrich -- 3½x2½in. (9x6cm.) The photograph in this lot is sold without copyright (3)
