Collection of assorted ephemera.
Comprising four photographs of the illustrator, including one with writer Eloise Jarvis McGraw; two illustrated flyers from 1943; six greeting cards, three being from the “Novo Laugh” series; two Oz postcards designed by Martin; five Oz Christmas cards (including one proof without second color) designed for Fred M. Meyer; and an original watercolor as a Christmas greeting in the envelope to Fred M. Meyer. Various sizes. Condition : minor wear. Provenance : Fred M. Meyer Collection. Beginning in1958, Dickinson P. Martin was one of the most important figures in the revival of interest in Oz in the latter half of the twentieth century. Not only did he illustrate many books for Reilly & Lee and others, he amassed a legendary collection of rare books and art and made significant contributions to Baum and Oz bibliography and other scholarship. At one time he edited The Baum Bugle with Fred M. Meyer and continued to serve The International Wizard of Oz Club in a multitude of ways until his untimely death in 1990.
