The group bound in 19th century pebble grained medium brown morocco, each leaf reinforced at the gutter with an attached guard. Some variation in leaf size, most 11 1/2 x 6 3/4 (29.5 x 17 cm). Externally light rubbing, internally the stamp of the Bar Association at the head of each work, some toning, minor defects, the first work likely incomplete, but still a remarkable run of 17th century laws, all of which are excessively rare in commerce. Some contemporary notations, mostly indicating repealed acts. The 1692 Third Sessions bears the name, in an early hand, of Benjamin Smith An extraordinary gathering, these include acts against witchcraft and conjuration, the punishing of capital offenders, regulations of the building of ships etc. A list of bibliographical citations (where available) from ESTC, Tower etc. is available upon request. So far as we can determine, none of these Acts have been offered at auction in well over a century. C The New York City Bar Association
