MAX OPPENHEIMER (1885–1954) Knitting Girl Starting price: 450 000 CZK (16 981 EUR) Hammer price: 1 400 000 CZK (52 830 EUR) Description dimensions: 80 x 90 cm (h x w) period: 1906, Bohemia A summer scene filled with soft light showing a small girl in a field focusing on knitting, is one of the artist's early works from when he was a student of the Academy under Professor Franz Thiele The style and the subject clearly hark to the teacher's influence and to Impressionism, especially the work of Max Liebermann Oil on canvas, signed "M. Oppenheimer" on top right. Published in: Marie Agnes von Puttkamer: Max Oppenheimer 1885-1954. Leben und malerisches Werk, Vienna, 1999, p. 221, cat.no. 2. Exhibited at the Vienna Secession exhibition in 1906 under no. 300.
