A PRESIDENTIAL PARDON FOR "BAY-BAH-MUASH, AN INDIAN" "...Bay-bah-Maush, an Indian, in the United States District Court...of Minnesota, was convicted of resisting a United States officer in making an arrest and...sentenced to imrpisonment for eight months in the Otter Tail County Jail....Whereas it has been made to appear to me that the said Bay-bah-Maush is a fit object of Executive clemency...I...William McKinley ..do hereby grant unto the said...a full and unconditional Provenance : Found by the father of the present owner, concealed in the rafters of a deserted cabin, along with a rusted pistol, on a remote lake in the Northern Minnesota lakes district, c.l915.
