Medals for Services at Sea from the Collection of the Late Oliver Stirling Lee Three: Blacksmith G. Greenaway, Royal Navy South Africa 1877-79, no clasp (Blks. Crew, H.M.S. Himalaya); Egypt and Sudan 1882-89, undated reverse, no clasp (Blacksth., H.M.S. Briton); Khedive’s Star 1884-6, contact marks and edge bruising, otherwise generally about very fine (3) £300-350 Footnote George Greenaway was born at St. Phillip’s, Bristol in March 1857 and entered the Royal Navy as Blacksmiths Crew in June 1877. He subsequently witnessed active service aboard H.M.S. Himalaya off South Africa during the course of 1878, and aboard the Briton off Egypt during 1884. Pensioned ashore in June 1897, he was never awarded the L.S. & G.C. Medal as a result of being deprived of several Good Conduct Badges.
