Some Things Badly, by Harry (Henry) Legge-Bourke. Self-publication. Printed by the Societe Orientale de Publicite, Cairo [ca. 1941]. English. "Some Things Badly", a memoir by Harry Legge-Bourke, a major in the Royal Horse Guards. Legge-Bourke describes his service in Eretz Israel during WW II, and adds humoristic poems which he composed during his service. The book is accompanied by b/w photos of the Royal Horse Guards soldiers in Eretz Israel (mounted on the book's leaves). A dedication dated 1941, handwritten by the author, appears on the first page. Harry (Henry) Legge-Bourke (1914-1973) was drafted to the Royal Horse Guards in 1934. During WW II he served in the Middle East and rose to the rank of major. He was released in 1945 and was elected a Member of Parliament on behalf of the Conservative Party, a post which he held until his death in 1973. See attached material. 38 pp + [14] photo plates. 20.5 cm. Good condition. Spotting. Tears around cover's edges. Torn spine, restored with adhesive tape.
