MERIGOT, James. A Select Collection of views and ruins in Rome, and its vicinity. London: W.Lewis for Robinson, White, Faulder and Evans, [n.d. but plates watermarked 1827-1828]. 2° (467 x 322mm). Text in French and English. Hand-coloured aquatint additional title and 61 hand-coloured plates. (Occasional light spotting to text, a few with small paper-fault holes not affecting the text, text leaf to plate 37 with short tear to outer blank margin.) Contemporary black straight-grained half morocco, spine gilt, original letterpress paper title label mounted on upper cover (small tears to label, neat repairs to head and foot of spine). A later issue of Merigot's views, in its most desirable large ('Imperial') paper format with hand-coloured plates, originally priced at 15 guineas. Cf. Abbey Travel 178 (edition with 1806-1818 watermarks).
