Film & Television Metropolis: A group of six original production stills, UFA, 1927, six black and white photographs taken during the filming of Fritz Lang's masterpiece Metropolis between 1925 and 1926, largest photograph 7in x 5¼in (18cm x 13cm), (6) Fußnoten Metropolis is celebrated as a pioneering science-fiction film which established impressive new standards for the genre. Set in a seemingly Utopian city, it is renowned for its striking visuals and futuristic themes. Directed by acclaimed producer Fritz Lang and written by Thea von Harbou in collaboration with Lang, Metropolis is an outstanding example of the German expressionist films which originated and thrived in the increasingly progressive atmosphere of 1920s Germany.
