Lange & Sohne case, diameter 54mm In the 1880s the discovery of gold on a farm in South Africa caused the Witwatersrand Gold Rush and led to the establishment of the city of Johannesburg. People travelled from all over the world to establish mining companies in the area, entrepreneurs who set up these companies were known as Randlords.
