Gilpin accompanied Fremont’s expedition across the Plains to Oregon in 1843 and later served as the first Territorial Governor of Colorado. The maps include 3 of North America (mountain and plain systems, and isothermal); 2 showing the mountain "parcs" of Colorado and the West; and 1 of the world.
