Engraved title by Vascellini after Terreni, double-page plan and 14 double-page plates by Vascellini, Cecchi and others after Paoletti (occasional light browning and spotting). Contemporary Italian half sheep, flat spine gilt (rubbed). Provenance : PRESENTATION COPY from the Grand Duke of Tuscany, Leopold I (the future emperor Leopold II) to an unnamed functionary in the '2d o Dipartimento' (tipped in slip with inscription in his name dated 30 June 1788). FIRST AND ONLY EDITION of this splendid publication illustrating the new town built around the thermal baths of Montecatini by Leopold I, the second Lorrainian Grand Duke of Tuscany.
