Contemporary crushed morocco, the sides with strapwork border of on-laid morocco and gilt foliate sprays, the spine gilt in compartments each with foliate sprays within on-laid border, light-brown watered-silk doublures and gilt turn-ins, gilt edges, original cloth box with indented panel, and lined with velvet (silk with short tears, edges very lightly rubbed). Provenance : Sotheby's New York, 09 April 1974, lot 169. FIRST EDITION. ONE OF 15 COPIES PRINTED ON VELLUM, THE PLATES HAND-COLOURED AND HEIGHTENED WITH GOLD, AND FINELY BOUND. Without doubt the most sumptuous work of reference on watches published to date. This copy numbered 13.
