London: Printed for Longman, Hurst, and others, 1817. 8° (213 x 138mm). Contemporary half calf, (spine slightly rubbed). Provenance : early library stamp at foot of title-page. THE RARE FIRST EDITION of a sailor's account of voyages to Australia and New Zealand, India and Japan, and to the American northwest coast for furs. He sailed in company with Capt. Broughton and the 'Chatham,' cruised the Queen Charlotte Islands and made a stay at Nootka and Cook Inlet. In 1797 and 1801 he visited Port Jackson and relates his meeting with Barrington, "pick-pocket and chief constable." Hill, p. 208. Sabin 51631. Ferguson 686.
