M16A1 machine gun manufactured by Colt. The left side of the magazine well is stamped with the encircled Rampant Colt logo above "COLT/ M16A1/ CAL. 5.56 MM." above the serial number, with Colt's manufacturer information present above the trigger area. Selector is stamped "SAFE", SEMI", "AUTO". Top of barrel is stamped "(C)" MP/ 5.56 NATO 1/7". Features include a 14 - 1/2" M4 pattern barrel, birdcage flash suppressor, standard M16 pattern front sight, later upper assembly with integral picatinny rail currently equipped with a Trijicon ACOG 4x32 optic, as well as a polymer carbine handguard, checkered pistol grip, and telescoping buttstock. Buttstock is currently fitted with a contemporary "U.S" over a flaming ordnance bomb marked rubber recoil pad. Lower handguard is mounted with a 2 - 1/4" picatinny rail. PROVENANCE: From the collection of esteemed NFA firearms enthusiast and collector J. R. Moody. CONDITION: Excellent, with metal components retaining virtually all of their original factory-applied finishes, exhibiting few and minor superficial marks from handling and storage overall. Very bright bore, exhibiting well-defined rifling throughout. Polymer furniture is fine. Trijicon ACOG optic is excellent. Due to the sheer volume of aftermarket accessories, Colt's M16 is a desirable and popular machine gun among shooters, making this a fine example of a Colt M16A1 machine gun.
