Beschreibung:

Extremely fine Japanese Type 99 light machine gun manufactured at the Nagoya arsenal in August of 1943 and registered by Charles Erb. Nagoya arsenal logo on right side of receiver with date code of "18.8" for 1943, August. Buffer, charging handle, ejection port cover, sear safety bar, cover and barrel are serial number 5435. Bolt is serial number 4285. Includes cone flash suppressor, original Japanese World War II 2.5 x 13 power scope, and 1 original un-numbered 30-round magazine. Firing mechanism moves smoothly when operated by hand. Electronic NFA registry indicates “Form 2 Registration” as the manufacturer, however “ERB” is the registered manufacturer according to consignor. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is extremely fine original finish, with some thinning to the finish at the high edges to a grey and brown patina, especially at the flash hider. Wood carry handle extremely fine, without any chips or dings. Wood buttstock shows only minor handling marks. Pistol grip is extremely fine with a 3” long crack going vertically from the trigger guard toward the base. Ejection port cover and magazine well cover have a black enamel painted finish, as does scope, whose optics are clear with a few specks. Bore is extremely fine with bright rifling. Bolt face extremely fine. Mechanics are smooth and positive. This is a Full-Auto only machine gun. The Type 99 Model was the larger more powerful cartridge version of the earlier Type 96. Both were used by Japanese forces until the end of World War II. The Type 99 was generally considered an improvement due to the more powerful cartridge and wedge-type barrel fastening system. These went to the elite units first such as the Japanese marines, then a significant number of these guns were retained on the home islands, “saving the best for the final defense.” This is a particularly attractive specimen in better condition than most encountered, also with the accessories one hopes to find. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. THIS ITEM IS FULLY TRANSFERABLE ON AN ATF FORM 3 OR 4. JWK 2022-03-001. Name Value Accessories Barrel Length 21 - 1/2" Caliber/Bore 7.7 x 58mm Arisaka FFL Status NFA Manufacturer Charles Erb Model Type 99 Paperwork Sear Serial Number Serial Number 6742
