Beschreibung:

Failing to acquire military contracts or remarkable commercial sales in the Pre-War period, Post-War SIG sought to develop and produce a much more cost-effective submachine gun suited for the new age of modern warfare, resulting in the MP-48. Sales were relatively unimpressive, with Chile being the only notable contract received, and as such the MP-48 saw very limited production during its short lifespan. This example bears no manufacturing markings, with the left side of the precision cast receiver being stamped with the serial number "3719". Bottom of barrel is stamped "9 M P.". Features include a blue finish, 8 - 1/2" barrel, fixed blade front sight, 4-position U-notch rear sight with graduations from 50-300 meters, under-folding magazine well assembly, solid wood stock and pistol grip, as well as a retractable wire buttstock. Matching numbers are present on the receiver, rear receiver cap, bolt, bolt handle, trigger guard assembly, magazine well assembly, as well as on the buttstock. This example is accompanied by a canvas magazine pouch containing 3 additional magazines. PROVENANCE: Ex-Bruce Stern Collection, Lot 22 JDJ Spring 2008 Firearms Auction. Recently from the collection of esteemed NFA firearms enthusiast and collector J. R. Moody. CONDITION: Fine, with metal components retaining bountiful amounts of their original factory-applied blue finish, with some thinning present on the barrel and some minor wear around the muzzle that shows through to a pleasant brown patina. Mirror bore, exhibiting sharp and well-defined lands and grooves throughout. Wood furniture shows some minor nicks and marks from handling and storage overall, with the left side of the pistol grip exhibiting a crack to the rear of the trigger guard that does not appear to affect serviceability. A fine example of an unusual SIG MP-48 submachine gun that had an extremely limited production. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. THIS ITEM IS FULLY TRANSFERABLE ON AN ATF FORM 3 OR 4 AS CURIO AND RELIC ELIGIBLE. MLW Name Value Accessories 3 spare magazines, magazine pouch Barrel Length 8 - 1/2" Caliber/Bore 9mm Para FFL Status NFA Manufacturer SIG Model MP-48 Paperwork Sear Serial Number Serial Number 3719
