BONAPARTE, NAPOLEON (1769-1821) AND MARIE LOUISE. Document, signed by empress Marie Louise "Pour L'Empereur...", folio sheet on vellum, partly printed text in French, dated Palace of St. Cloud, 2 October 1813. Size c. 440x570 mm. Permission for François Brune to service with the king of Westphalia. Folded, some creases and slight soiling, some minor spotting, some notes in pencil to margin. Austrian archduchess Marie Louise (1791-1847) married Napoleon Bonaparte in 1810, and she became empress of the French; the following year, she gave birth to a son, later Napolon II (king of Rome). Provenance: Per Edward Gustafsson (1893-1966), Swedish collector. Part of his large manuscript - and autograph collection was donated to the library of Uppsala University Carolina Rediviva.
