This lot comprises a NASA emblem, affectionately known as the "Meatball" and an Apollo 11 emblem, SIGNED by Buzz ALDRIN and designed by Command Module Pilot Michael Collins The latter features a bald eagle, the United States national bird, carrying an olive branch to symbolize peaceful exploration of the Moon. The Earth is in the background with the flight number “Apollo 11” in gold. The outer border has concentric inner blue and outer gold rings. It was a collective decision of the Apollo 11 crew to not add their names, in recognition of all the men and women who worked in the space program that made this flight possible. 10 and 6 inches in diameter respectively. Archivally matted to 14.25 by 25.5 inches.
