Nasa Photographs.- A large collection of press (wire) black and white Nasa photographs, with typed captions on verso, featuring various relevant moments of Nasa history between the end of the 1960s and the beginning of the 1970s from Apollo missions to scientific experiments carried out at the space centres. Including: training of the astronauts, flight suits checkout, the recovery of Apollo 12 crew after splashdown, several pre-launch activities , view of the damaged Apollo 13 Service Module, the welcome celebrations of the city of Chicago for the safe return of Apollo 13 crew, examination of corn blight infestation in Indiana, a new bacteria detector, plants growing on soil brought back by the crew of Apollo 12 mission, a study on human chromosome, magnetic and termal checks on a satellite, a few duplicates, some wearing and creasing, occasional tears, tape residue to verso of a few photographs, 25.5 x 20.5 cm approx, 1970-1971 (large quantity) ***Provenance: from the collection of science journalist Peter Fairley (1930-1998), who was Science Editor for Independent Television News and Tv Times magazine in the 1960s and 1970s
