(Thick folio) 41.5x25.5 cm. (16¾x10") period full mottled calf, spines gilt. Third Edition. The third and best edition of Harris's comprehensive compilation of voyages, first published in 1705. This edition revised and enlarged by John Campbell and with the inclusion of several additional maps by Emanuel Bowen Significantly, this work includes Bowen's version of the Thevenot Tasman map, "A Complete Map of the Southern Continent surveyed by Capt. Abel Tasman" (one of the first English maps of Australia), and Bowen's "A New Map of Georgia with Part of Carolina, Florida and Louisiana." Sabin 30483. Lot Amendments Condition: Joints cracked, front cover detached on Volume 1 along with front free endpaper and flyleaf, armorial bookplates of Abel Smith, Woodhall Park; one map (Magellan's Voyage) in Volume 1 improperly folded and with some edge wear, damp stain to lower corner of volume one, mostly marginal but extending a bit into images on a few plates; internally still very good or better.
