Three-quarters purple leather, cloth sides. 11 3/8 x 7 inches (28 x 17.5 cm); [14], 281, [1]pp., collating pi1 [fleuron]-3[fleuron]^(2) B^(4) B-2M^(4) 2N (verso blank). Spine perished, boards detached, housed in a modern clamshell case. Bar Association stamps and accession marks on first two leaves, repair to a portion of the gutter margin of L2, some toning, staining and foxing, overall a sound copy. These are "Kinsey's Laws," those compiled and edited by John Kinsey, speaker of the New Jersey Assembly. This work is generally considered the FIRST OFFICIAL COMPILATION OF NEW JERSEY LAWS, and Felcone indicates that the Act specifically stated that "as only a small number is ordered for the use of the said Province, those private gentlemen who are willing to have and subscribe for the same" should contact the booksellers as the Bradfords were "designing to print no more than what are subscribed and agreed for."
