Np, circa 1878]. Oblong folio (10 ½ x 14 ¼ inches, 267x362 mm). Photographs, ranging in size from 4 x 6 inches, 100 x 156 mm to 4 ½ x 7 ½ inches, 114x190 mm. Mounted recto only of 9 leaves, each with pencilled caption. Half morocco over contemporary green pebble-grained cloth-covered boards. Condition: Some fading to the images. a fine selection of images, including wall street and the brooklyn bridge under construction. The images include the White House, the Capitol, the US Navy department, the Smithsonian, Mount Vernon and 12 images of New York City, including three of lower Manhattan from Brooklyn Bridge with one showing part of the bridge during construction. The other New York views include and early one of Wall Street, two views of Broadway, one of a Pullman railway car and one of the exterior of “Grand Central Depot.
