FROM THE LIBRARY OF NICHOLAS II. According to Aileen Kelly, Nietzsche's 'Superman' theory greatly influenced the various schools of Russian philosophy in the late nineteenth century, leading them to seek to reconcile the Western import with their own existing notions of the 'new man' or the 'integral personality'; an attempt which, true to tradition, combined the purely theoretical with pressing concerns about social issues, and led to a renunciation of purely rationalist views of man and society.
