NINE JAPANESE WOODBLOCK PRINTS Comprising nine loose, unframed examples including a portrait of an actor in embellished costume with Japanese character script in the background, from the series “Legends of women of all ages,” by Utagawa Kunisada (Toyokuni III)(Japanese 1786 -1865), 13.75 inches x 9.75 inches (35 x 24.5 cm), and Utagawa Kuniyoshi (Japanese 1798 - 1861) “Toyei The Heavenly Weaver” – from The Twenty-four Paragons of Filial Piety, 8.5 inches x 13.75 inches (22 x 34.7 cm). Together with a group of four smaller examples depicting mountainside landscape and rural life scenes, each image measuring approximately 7.2 inches x 4.8 inches (18 x 12.5 cm), an example depicting the back of a female figure wearing a silk robe, 8.2 inches x 3.2 inches (20.5 x 8 cm), another example showing a crane on a snowy mountainside, 7.2 inches x 4.8 inches (18 x 12.5 cm), and an example depicting black, blue, and white flycatchers amongst the branches, 14 inches x 6.25 inches (35.5 x 15.5 cm). Also including a likely Chinese example depicting a nude female figure kneeling, 11.7 inches x 7.8 inches (30 x 20.5 cm).
