Kissinger, 9 August 1974. 1 page, 8vo, on White House stationery, signed in red ink, framed (11½ x 30 in.) with an engraved portrait . A SOUVENIR COPY OF HIS RESIGNATION LETTER SIGNED BY NIXON. "I hereby resign the office of President of the United States." That curt text was necessary to effect the legal transfer of power from the disgraced, outgoing President to his successor, Vice-President Gerald Ford. Nixon had announced his departure in a nationally televised speech the night before. [FRAMED ALONG WITH:] FORD, Gerald R. Document signed ("Gerald R. Ford"), 8 September 1974. 1 page, 8vo . A SIGNED, SOUVENIR TEXT OF THE NIXON PARDON. "Pursuant to the pardon power conferred upon me by Article II, Section 2 of the Constitution," Ford grants "a full, free and absolute pardon unto Richard Nixon for all offenses which he...has committed or may have committed...from January 20, 1969 through August 9, 1974."
