NODIER, Charles, Baron Isidore TAYLOR and others. Voyages Pittoresques et Romantiques dans l'ancienne France. Paris, 1820-1837. Volumes I-VII only (of 19, i.e. series 1-3 complete). Half-titles, titles with lithographic vignettes. One lithographic additional title, on 'chine appliqu', two lithographic series titles, 935 lithographic plates and views (760 on 'chine appliqu', 5 printed in two colors), 8 plates also present as 'croquis' (lithographic plates in outline), giving a plate total of 843, (Occasional light marginal spotting to vols.III-VII.) Various contemporary bindings. Vols.I-II: contemporary blue morocco by Badiejois, elaborately tooled in gilt and blind to a romantique design, gilt turn-ins, salmon-pink watered-silk endleaves, g.e. (light scuffing to extremities); vol.III: contemporary French green half- morocco, spine gilt, uncut (slight discoloration to spine); vols.IV-VII: contemporary purple half-morocco by Meslant, spines elaborately tooled in gilt (extremities scuffed, some damage along lower edges of boards). A selection of the most interesting volumes from this monumental work, "the greatest of all publications illustrated with lithographs" (Ray p.165). Sold not subject to return.
