CARVED FRENCH AND INDIAN WAR POWDERHORN FROM SAMUEL GRIDLEY. Samuel Gridley, likely born at Boston in 1734, and the son of Richard Gridley, who designed the battlements around Fort George, and would later serve as the first Chief Engineer for the U.S. Army, designing the battlements at Breed's Hill at the Battle of Bunker Hill.
