AH 898/1492 AD): DIWAN SAFAVID IRAN, 17TH CENTURY AND LATER Persian manuscript on paper, 220ff. plus four fly-leaves, each folio with 15ll. of elegant nasta'liq divided into two columns with gold rule, numerous headings on gold ground, text panels set within bands of gold scrolling floral vine, first 11ff. with elaborate marginal illumination in triangular cartouches, following folios with simpler gold floral illumination, opening folio with gold and polychrome illuminated headpiece around a heading in white kufic on gold ground, first two lines written on white clouds reserved against gold ground, in later lacquer binding with gold and polychrome lobed medallions, red lacquer doublures painted with gul-o bulbul design, with later leather slipcase Text panel 6½ x 3 7/8in. (16.1 x 9.5cm.); folio 10½ x 6 7/8in. (26.8 x 17cm.)
