AH 898/1492 AD): KULLIYAT COPIED BY MUHAMMAD IBN 'ABD AL-RAZIQ TABIB, PROBABLY OTTOMAN TURKEY, DATED 20 JUMADA II AH 931/13 APRIL 1525 AD, 26 RAJAB AH 932/8 MAY 1526 AD AND DHU'L QA'DA AH 932/AUGUST-SEPTEMBER 1526 AD Poetry, with the Diwan of Jami as the main text and the Tuhfat al-Ahrar , Subhat al-Abrar , Yusuf wa Zulaykha , Layla wa Majnun and Iskandarnama in the margins, Persian manuscript on ivory paper, 510ff. plus 3 fly-leaves, each folio with 19ll. of tight black nasta'liq arranged in two columns with double gold intercolumnar rule, further text written on the diagonal around the main text, catchwords, text panels with gold, blue and black outer rule, titles in red, blue and gold naskh , first folio with gold and polychrome illuminated headpiece, preceding folio with elegant large gold and polychrome shamsa , five further similarly illuminated panels of various sizes within the text, seven contemporaneous illustrations illustrating the text in the margins, colophon signed Muhammad ibn 'Abd al-Raziq Tabib, with three dates within the text of 20 Jumada al-Thani 931, 26 Rajab 932 and Dhu'l Qa'da 932, some foliios loose in binding, some illustrations slightly smudged, minor staining, in contemporaneous Ottoman morocco with flap decorated with gold stamped central medallion, spandrels and borders, later owner's notes on first fly-leaf, the doublures with decoupé medallion, spandrels and border cartouches on blue ground Text panel 7¼ x 4¼in. (18.4 x 10.7cm.); folio 9½ x 6½in. (24.2 x 16.1cm.)
